On December 1st we gathered with a small group of young professionals at Moishe House to commemorate the exodus of the Jews from the Middle East and North Africa in a new and exciting way.

Niran Timan, who was born in Iraq, spoke to the group about her childhood. She told them about her father's book of Arabic poetry, posthumously published in Iraq forty years after he first wrote it with the original dedication - 'To the Iraqi People'. Niran also spoke about her online activism now, using Facebook to build bridges between Iraqi's and Jews, all in Arabic.

Our guests then had the chance to ask Niran questions in a safe and intimate setting, where events many were hearing about for the first time could be processed and remembered. They then shared a delicious lunch and continued chatting, discussing and getting to know one another.

This was the first of these events, and we hope to do many more - so watch this space!
